A Little Bit Crazy?

September isn't over yet, people! There's still a chance to win an autographed copy of Forever Amore's gorgeous cover by commenting at every stop on my virtual book tour. The full up-to-the-minute list can be viewed on the left sidebar. (Also check out future guest interviews coming to The Cozy Page! Are you a published author with an upcoming release? Email me at amber@amberleighwilliams.com and you can be added!) In the meantime, I'm playing around with one of my early manuscripts and hoping to submit it to Harlequin Superromance line by December. After completing my 2nd paranormal, I'm taking a break before beginning my next WIP until NaNo starts November 1. Only another month and a half? Jeepers, I'm getting cold feet already!

I thought I'd bring this next subject here to my blog. I've always been a bit...shall we say, absentminded? It has more to do with being so mentally entrenched in my stories and thoughts than what my family cheekily likes to call my "blonde moments." (I was only legally blonde for the first five years of my life, but after some very bright highlights in my high school years, I will never live this phrase down.) I even had one such moment interrupt my first vid-blog (below). The missing slipper in the filing cabinet - that's just typical moi! On top of that, in the last week I've had some real doozies. My husband came home from work several hours after I had a sandwich for lunch and discovered peanut butter in the fridge and the jelly jar in the dry pantry. Now this is just silly, because I'd been going back and forth from my office to the fridge all day, chugging soda with my revision.

And the nuttiness struck again today! I was babysitting my parents' dog, Murphy, while they were out of town and decided to take a shower after running around outside and getting sweaty. There was a bottle of oatmeal shampoo and another of Head-and-Shoulders in their spare bathroom. I opted for the oatmeal, tempted by the special "SUPER-MOISTURIZING" label. So I'm washing my hair and the shampoo just isn't working. I go back for another gob. Nope, not working either. Finally, I pick up the bottle to make sure there aren't any special oatmeal instructions and the word PET catches my eye. With a gasp, I look at the front of the bottle and, indeed, in tiny letters under the logo, there were the tell-tale words "For Dogs."

While I'm waiting for my hair to fall out, I thought I'd give you all a few laughs at my expense. Writers, sound off! Ever been so lost in the story in your head that you did something utterly half-brained? Feel free to make me feel better about myself and tell us ALL about it :)
*Thinking about a story while doing other things helps a lot, though. Today Murphy and I were watching TV and his paws got a-hold of the controller and switched to Spongebob. I was pondering whether or not to add a hurricane to my revision. And voila - the Pineapple Fever episode started playing, in which Spongebob, Patrick, and Squidward ride out a terrible Bikini Bottom storm! I immediately stopped procrastinating and went back to work! Thanks, Spongebob!

(Oh, and join me for my Manic Readers Chat Wednesday afternoon from 3pm-8pm EST! Woohoo, I LOVE Manic Readers!!!)

Blog Talk and Contests and Short Stories, OH MY!

Where have I been? *ahem* Around, I promise. And I can prove it! Terribly sorry that I haven't been keeping up-to-date on web appearances, but here's all you could possibly want to know about where Amber promoted in February:
I had the privilege of appearing on fellow Red Rose author Kim Smith's Blog Talk Radio "Introducing Writers". She was nice enough to conduct my first radio interview. After five minutes of intense nausea, I overcame my new medium anxiety and had a lot of fun talking about Fox & Hound, its January print release, and writing in general. Here's a link to the entire 30-minute interview: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/KimS/page/1
You won't believe it, but I buckled down and entered a contest: the Manic Readers "Men in Uniform" contest. Winners of each round get to submit their full manuscript to NAL's Becky Vinter. On a lark, I submitted an excerpt from my historical and it is up officially for voting in Round 2. All entries are anonymous, but *wink* I'm #5. If you'd like to vote, here's the link for the Manic Readers home page, scroll down to "Contests" and hit the "Vote here" button. Log-in is required: http://www.manicreaders.com/. Warning: all entries are STEAMY!!!
Speaking of steamy, Todd and Celestia from Fox & Hound have made a bit of a comeback in a short story entitled "Honeymoon Recon" which has appeared in All Romance eBooks "Wildfire" newsletter. No voting or download required, I promise! If you'd like to visit Todd and Celestia again, the newsletter can be viewed for free at ARe: http://www.allromanceebooks.com/newsletter161-2009-03-08.html. Scroll past the interviews to read "Honeymoon Recon."
And look to the Authors Studio this week for my article on the importance of setting in plotting which will also soon appear on the Media page of my website: http://authorsstudio.blogspot.com/2009/03/locationlocationlocation-guest-blogger.html.
Oh, and I must mention that February 28th marked the one-year anniversary of my debut novel's e-release! Happy birthday, Fox & Hound!!!

4-Star Review from Manic Readers!!!

4 Star Review from Manic Readers for steamy romantic adventure Fox & Hound!!!

Fox & Hound is a debut novel by writer Amber Leigh Williams. It is an intricate tale with many different twists and turns not only in the relationship between the protagonists and the protagonists' families, but also in the plotting and execution of the thefts. I really enjoyed the challenge of trying to figure out what was coming next, especially when I was wrong and ended up completely surprised. This story is a wonderful debut by this promising new author.”
