It's been like trying to decide whether or not to jump off a bridge, but I've decided to take the leap and participate in my first NaNoWriMo. For those who don't know what this means, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a 50,000-word novel, starting November 1st and finishing by midnight November 30th. And, yes, I'm absolutely terrified. I've written novellas in a month, but never whole novels. This total "seat-of-the-pants" and "kamikaze approach" to writing is completely out of my comfort zone. But since I haven't managed to do anything but juggle ideas since the end of August, it'll probably be good for me...like taking a really icky mouthful of pink Pepto every night before bed. Bleck!
If anyone else has decided to take the plunge this year again or for the first time, sound off and remind me why I should be doing this! I need some serious Chicken Soup... Thanks a lot!!!!

I love Nano! This will be my third year. I think you have great motivation if you haven't settled on anything to write in a few months.
The first year I did it, I hadn't planned ANYTHING. In fact, my hero completely changed as I wrote. I loved that book. LOVED it. It needs huge revisions, which I plan to get to after Christmas.
Last year, I had plotted it out months before but it hadn't really pulled me. It was more of a struggle, to be honest, but I'm revising it now and it's not too bad!
I can't wait for Nano to start. This will be my third year. The first year I did the 50,000, last year I totally flaked out, but this year I'm determined to write the whole, frigging 50,000. Our local chapter had Chris Baty talk to us last year, he is a blast.
Hey Amber--last year I did a personal challenge with 3 friends--we teamed up and which ever team had the most words by the end had to buy the other team dinner. Donna and I had to buy dinner, but in the end, we all won because we wrote and we enjoyed a nice dinner. :) And, I ended Nano just over 40k, polished the book and submitted to TWRP, and it's Chasin' Mason--release date Mar.18, 2009. The end product was just over 50k.
We're doing a similar challenge this year, but no bets--just for fun. Good luck with your NaNo and I look forward to hearing where you end up. :)
