What I'll Be Watching This Valentine's Day

I'm counting down to V-Day 2008! Nothing gets me in the mood for my favorite holiday faster than a feel-good love story! Here are a few of my favorites...

10. The Disney Collection
Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White… You can be sure I’m wiping the dust off these sappy favorites and loading them into the old VHS player.

9. Step Up 2: The Streets
I’m excited about the sequel to Step Up. This dance flick is sure to make you want to jump up and bust a move…or maybe that’s just me. I can’t wait to catch this one in theaters on Valentine’s Day!

8. Music and Lyrics
Out of all Hugh Grant’s romantic comedies, this one with Drew Barrymore is definitely my favorite with Two Weeks Notice running a very close second.

7. Pretty Woman
Who doesn’t love Richard Gere and Julia Roberts together?

6. Just Married
Ashton Kutcher got it right with Brittany Murphy. One of the few romantic comedies my husband and I can both enjoy all around!

5. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
This 1961 classic is always a heart warmer. There’s nothing like a little “Moon River” to make Valentine’s Day worthwhile.

4. The Lake House
Oh, Keanu. Enough said.

3. You’ve Got Mail
Always a favorite in my book! You just can’t beat Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan….

2. Fool’s Gold
Another hilarious duo is back in this romantic adventure to work their screen magic once again. Silly antics, treasure hunting, and—so I hear—a nude Matthew McConaughey puts this on most women’s must-see list this Valentine’s season!

1. Becoming Jane
With a DVD release of February 12th, you know I’ll be snuggling up (by myself because the hubby has a hundred different things he’d rather do than watch ANOTHER Regency love story with me) with the popcorn and ice cream crying over this one!

NOW it's your turn! Tell me what movies are sure to get you in the mood for Valentine's!!!

I like your list, Amber :)

My picks for Valentines are French Kiss, Lady Jane (although it doesn't end happily, it's a great love story), Dangerous Beauty, and Stardust. I'd love to see Enchanted again, but sadly it's not out on DVD yet.

Happy V Day!

One of my favorites is a movie called "Always" starring Richard Dreyfus and Holly Hunter. It's one of those movies I could watch over and over again. And I love the picture you posted of Romeo and Juliet. I have a large print of this painting hanging in my dining room. Love it.

Happy Valentine's Day. :) Stacy

I love The Matchmaker for just romantic fun. Kind of off-beat and never did hit the real big time, but I love it, watched it yesterday, in fact.

Happy Valentine's Day! Patsy

Great movie selections. I'd have to say I agree with You've Got Mail and I also like Sleepless in Seattle.

Happy Valentine's Day to all!

What a good question, Amber! You know, although I love contemporary stuff, read and write contemporary, for a real romantic movie I go back to the old musicals. Gimme Gene Kelly singing and dancing to get the girl any day. Those romantic ballet sequences, all floating muslin and soft breezes...Paris by the Seine, even a dancing sailor on top of the Empire State....bliss!

Great list, Amber! I do want to see Fool's Gold--I think those two have great chemistry.

My favorite is Romancing the Stone. Action and romance. :-)

My all time favorite movie is Ladyhawk with Michele Pfiefer, Rutger howard and Matthew Broderick. Benny & June with Johnny Dep and Mary Stuart Masterson. The Notebook was another great one. I can't rememberthe actor's names.
