Here's Your (New) Sign!

So the powers that be decided to announce today that the Earth has wobbled to such a degree that the astrological signs have changed, too! And not only that - the twelve zodiacs have company in the name of lucky number thirteen, Ophiuchus. Prize to anybody who can pronounce it for me. How I went to bed as a Taurus and woke up as an Aries is really beyond me, but by all accounts the change has been known among astrologists for some time...they just forgot to tell us about it.

Here are the new sign dates...

Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11
Pisces: March 11-April 18
Aries: April 18-May 13
Taurus: May 13-June 21
Gemini: June 21-July 20
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20

The question is whether a majority of the people embrace this change. I liked being a Taurus, so much that I considered getting a zodiac tattoo of the bull. Now I'm certainly glad I decided against it. My sympathies to those who didn't....

Almost everyone in my family's sign shifted. The hub actually stole my sign - going from Gemini to Taurus. My sister and father shifted from Libra to Virgo. My mother, luckily, is still a Taurus. How 'bout you, Cozies? Did your sign change, too? Any new Ophiuchus-ians out there? From what little research I've done over the years of the zodiac, Ophiuchus is associated with the snake and is known to some as "the serpant bearer."

The above Aries figurine is from the Royal Copenhagen collection. View it here!

Okay, this one threw me. I saw another chart earlier this AM--according to that I'm still a Taurus (unless I read it wrong), but by yours, Amber, I too, woke up an Aries. (Hmmm, it's always been my favorite sign. Makes me wonder...) At the May 10th, I'm also real close to Taurus anyway. As per Ophiucius-ian(s), sounds like my Saggi-son may be one, nor am I married to the Leo I prayed for anymore? And what about my beloved characters? Wow. I've got some research to do.

Hi, Amber. Interesting. I had heard years ago that the zodiac had shifted. My mom was into astrology when I was younger and did our charts for us. My sign didn't change, but my husband, younger daughter and mother all moved. I think my son-in-law is an Ophiuchus...really, they couldn't give us something easy to pronounce!

Surprise! I had no idea this was happening. I was a Taurus, too, and am now an Aries. Fortunately, I don't have a bull tattoo either.

OMG! I've always been under the sign Aquarius and now I'm a Capricorn? Go figure!

@Joanna - hahah, that was my first reaction too: OMG, my characters! I saw the same chart on three sites that I went too. It could always be wrong, though...

@Anna - Yes, nobody seems to be able to pronounce the thirteenth sign, lol

@Sue - I'm sorry I was the one who brought the news. I had to tell my sister she wasn't a Libra. Hate being the bearer of bad news, such as it is :)

My mother told me I was born late. I guess I procrastinated until I was born a Pisces. Now, I guess the stars have caught up with me! I've gone from Pisces to Aquarius. Still, it doesn't 'feel' right.
