A couple of weeks ago, the hub came home from work and announced, “Did you know there’s a large box labeled HARLEQUIN on the front porch?” I then watched him lug said box inside. My heart began to dance a little. I had indeed heard the UPS man drive up and knock but hadn’t been able to answer and then promptly forgot about it. Horrified I had let my long-awaited box from my publisher sit outside all afternoon, I dove at it, ripping it open without further ado…. In hindsight, I wish I hadn’t torn the box. It would have been a nice keepsake. Alas, the lid tore under my eager hands. But the shiny, new contents greeted me completely untouched! I’ll let you see for yourself what was inside….

Cozy Countdown to A PLACE WITH BRIAR: 7 Days....

The Cozy Countdown continues. Only 7 more days until A Place With Briar hits bookstore shelves. Holy moly, less than a week. What?!?!
 

I have a bit of a request for readers…. I recently got some new author headshots done by our amazing family photog (@hannahpwills). This has been a long time coming. I’ve been using the same headshot since I was first published back in…well, we won’t go there. Suffice it to say, my old headshot is close to 8 years old. I might have kept on using it if the powers that be at Harlequin had not informed me that it wasn’t the right dimensions. I admit, the quality is a bit…well, dingy. (I cropped it out of a family photo.)

Anyway, I’m really excited about these new headshots. Not only did @hannahpwills do an excellent job. She took the time to do my makeup for me as well. Thanks, chica!

                                            

My request for you, readers, is to help me choose between the color version of the photo or the black-and-white version. They’re the same picture. I’ve just been torn between these two options:

Cozy Countdown to A PLACE WITH BRIAR: Only 8 Days Left....

I had to take a moment today to post some “happees.” In other words, just a few squee-worthy pics I took over the weekend to kick off the Cozy Countdown to A Place With Briar’s April 1st book launch!
 

I should start out by saying that Friday night I went back to the Books-a-Million where I worked several years ago. I went there for two reasons, really.

One: I wanted to scope out the Harlequin Superromance section to get an idea of where A Place With Briar will be shelved in seven days’ time.

 

Two: To buy every copy of the April issue of RT Book Reviews magazine in which A Place With Briar is reviewed. Not only is this my first RT review (so exciting!), reviewer Alexandra Kay gave the book 4 stars! Oh my gee! Really? It didn’t hit me until I peeled back the pages of the April issue for myself to find the Series Romance section where the review is printed - in the middle column, bottom of the page. (Warning: the full review pictured below includes what could be considered spoilers. If you’d like to read a less revealing review snippet before reading Cole and Briar’s story, I’ve copied it below the image.)

 

 

Review Snippet: Great description and engaging characters make this story an entertaining read. Cole is nicely developed and his despair over losing his son and Briar’s worry over the potential loss of her inn are both well drawn. The secondary characters, such as Briar’s tenants, are also quite fun and nicely crafted.

“There’s something you need to know….”

 

Cole’s lips curved as he turned back to the bike. “I know.”

 

“You do?” Briar asked, sounding astounded.

 

“You’ve never ridden a bike before.”

 

“Is it that obvious?” she asked, rubbing her palms on her jeans.

 

“A little,” he said wryly. “Just lean with me into the turns. And hold on.”

Hell, if he didn’t coax her on now, she’d probably run for her life. And while that might have been better for the both of them under the circumstances, he found himself jerking his thumb behind him, motioning for her to get on.

 

After a brief pause, Briar dropped down her visor and stepped to the bike.

Gripping his offered hand for balance, she climbed on behind him and placed her feet on the small passenger pegs.

Just this once, he was going to give Briar Browning the ride of her life. God help them both.

Cowboy Lovin' Day 6: BLUEST HEART Launch!

It's HERE! Day 6 of Cowboy Lovin' and my second western romance launch! Bluest Heart officially releases today from The Wild Rose Press and I'm premiering the book video and giving all you Cowboy Lovin' readers an exclusive peak at the second book in the Wayback Ridge trilogy. For the video, I went with a fun, bluesy kinda theme. It's got a good Wayback feel to it, don't you think? :)





That track will be playing on my iPod all day long. I feel like I've been waiting for this day for a while. To fans of Blackest Heart, this is the story of Stella's brother, Casey, who - as you saw in the video - is "the good guy." And, ladies, Casey brings a lot of sexy back to the beta hero!

"Do you think I’m incapable of doing anything by myself?"

"No, Josie. I just offered to give you a hand."

"Stop," she warned. "I don’t want your hand. I don’t want you around period. I tried to tell you yesterday to stay away from me, Casey. What’s going to make that sink in for you?"

He grinned. "Oh, it’s sunk in. I’m just ignoring it. You know what I want."

"How do you expect me to believe you can make a relationship work when you can’t even do your own damn laundry?" she squealed, at wit’s end.

"Trust me."

She was so mad she stomped one foot into the floor. "What is your problem?"

"At the moment? You."

She scoffed. "You have some nerve!"

"No, you’ve got some nerve!" he told her, humor melting quickly into anger. "You looked me right in the eyes and lied to me yesterday. We both know it."

"So why are you stalking me?" she demanded.

"Because I still want you," he blurted. "And I know you still want me. I’m not going to rest until you admit it."

"Then you’ve got a lot of sleepless nights ahead of you."

He started for the door. "We’ll just see about that." He paused, propping the books on his hip and digging into his pocket.

"I forgot. I think this is yours."

Seeing what he tossed in her direction, she leapt over the counter to catch the black lace thong. She ground her teeth together, her cheeks flaring hot again. Desperate to get a last, cutting word in, she whirled toward the door.

It slammed shut at his back. She let out a furious growl. God, he was going to drive her out of her mind!
